Southern Water and Up & Coming challenges

Customer notification – 10th September 2024

In July we received notice from Southern Water that during periods of heavy rain which results in storm water being directly discharged into the watercourse we can expect to find Ashford and Canterbury sewage treatment works to be closed.

To cut a long story short but this has been enforced onto Southern Water by the Environment agency to prevent untreated waste entering the river stour.

At the moment it is very unknown how this will affect us as a business and the impact it is going to have on our customers.

During the wetter months please make sure you are leaving plenty of time to get booked in as we are predicting booking lead times to be longer than usual. Of course, we are going to do our upmost to ensure we still get to all of our customers in a timely manner and prioritise best we can.

We have been in on contact with Southern Water for a short term and long term solution and the local MP’s requesting support with this matter, so far we haven’t had any feedback but as soon as we have we will update our website so our customers are informed.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding in these uncertain times for customers without main drainage.
